Pronghorn Antelope at Ring Mountain Wyoming
Artist: Susan Davis
Three buck pronghorn running on dry ground with Ring Mountain covered in snow standing large in the background
Ring Mountain is located south of Woods Landing WY
Pronghorn are not antelope. They have only a North American fossil record, meaning they did not cross the Bering Land Bridge, making them arguably the most unique large land mammal in North America
Pronghorn are more closely related to giraffes then they are to true antelope, cattle, sheep or goats
They are truly fascinating creatures and essentially Pleistocene relics
