Rick from the Great Wyom is a story about a Saxophone playing turtle who was involved in a car crash while traveling home for Christmas.  He made the best of the situation with the help and kindness of the EMTs and paramedics. Rick was not injured and he hopes he will never be in another crash!   Rick is played by a crocheted turtle from a 1975 pattern.  The book is accompanied by a 3 D plastic turtle, a representation of a 1960s era hand sewn turtle originally purchased at a yard sale in Brookings SD. The coloration of the plastic turtle is a nod to the Plains Box Turtle, an endangered turtle last seen in Goshen and Platte County in Wyoming.  If you see a turtle in the wild, do not collect it.  Take a picture, note the location and notify the Wyoming Game and Fish.
