From the artist:
12x12 original watercolor painting. Framed in solid walnut wood frame. Bitterroot is the state flower of Montana, but can be found throughout the Western United States and the southern Canadian Rockies. In Wyoming, it can be found in lower-elevation areas surrounding the bases of mountain ranges, including both the Snowy Range and Laramie Range. The flower is most often white or pink, but can be found in lavender and purple hues, which I have chosen to paint here. Bitterroot’s scientific name is Lewisia rediviva, rediviva meaning “revived” or “reborn”, referring to the plant’s ability to regenerate from very dry, dead-looking roots.
